Azulej is a series of glazed porcelain tile designed by Patricia Urquiola for Mutina. The collection's material composition, which is inspired by hydraulic cement, combined with its digital print glazing, offers a modern take on ancient handcrafted majolica tiles. Tonal variations in the glaze, as well as the layered complexity of the patterns themselves, reference the handcrafted nature of classic majolica. It has the beauty of a cement tile, with the ease of maintenance of a porcelain tile. Since the collection’s introduction, many have aimed to mimic this style, but no other tile has the richness and depth of these original Patricia Urquiola designs. Azulej won the 2013 Wallpaper Design Award for Best Trend. The Combination Set is a set of 27 individual 8"x8" tiles (for a total coverage of 12 sq./ft). Tiles are rectified.
