U-Color | Colorful Porcelain Planks

U-Color is a series of ink-jet and cold-glazed porcelain tile in unusual colors to enhance the creative visions of designers; it invites the invention of new design concepts. The cold glazing production process enables outstanding production flexibility, which means that small lots can be produced in an array of colors; something not typically achieved by conventional firing systems that are typical of the tile industry. Its special size (nominal 3” x 12”) and subtle wood-grain appearance creates a bold and modern effect. This look was inspired by the industrial wooden floors of the 1970’s, typical of residential architecture of those days; a time when, instead of a machine, it was a hand-crafted technique. Consequently, this is an artisan product. Each piece is unique, with slight differences in color, shades or even slight imperfections created intentionally to further enhance the product. IMPORTANT NOTE: This is an artisan product and has been designed to mature over time. It appears slightly aged to create the look of a natural wood. Much like the aging process of painted wood, the U-Color materials will patina over time.
